Event Speakers

This year’s panel of experts includes Bruce Poon Tip, founder of G Adventures; Daniel Houghton, CEO of Lonely Planet; Jamie Sweeting, president of the Planeterra Foundation; Kris Reyes, anchor and host of Global TV’s The Morning Show; and a special video address by primatologist and conservationist Jane Goodall.

    As the founder of G Adventures, Bruce has been one of sustainable tourism’s most active proponents for more than 20 years. As he sees it, there is no box to think outside of anymore, and concepts like freedom and happiness can – and in the case of G Adventures, do – truly make for a functional and successful business model.

    CEO of Lonely Planet

    Daniel is the CEO of Lonely Planet, the world’s largest travel publisher. He has worked as a photojournalist and multimedia producer for the Seattle Times, the US Army, ABC, the Associated Press, and others. He has received multiple awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and other journalism associations.

    President of Planeterra Foundation

    For nearly 25 years, Jamie Sweeting has been a leading advocate in recognizing the positive impact of sustainable tourism. Before becoming president of the Planeterra Foundation, Jamie was principal of Sweeting Sustainability Solutions, providing support to governments and multinational organizations on a wide range of sustainability issues.

    Reporter, Anchor & Host of Global’s The Morning Show

    A writer, producer, reporter, anchor, and host, Kris brings a passion for news and a wealth of experience to Global’s The Morning Show. After a stint with CTV’s Winnipeg affiliate, she spent six years as a reporter for CityTV in Toronto before taking a break from broadcasting to spend five months travelling Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii.

In a special video message, Dr. Jane Goodall discusses the importance of ethical tourism and how fostering a positive relationship that bridges both commerce and conservation can make the world a better place.

    As the world’s foremost expert on wild chimpanzees, Dr Goodall has worked for over 45 years to protect the livelihood and habitats of our closes biological relatives. Today, she spends an estimated 300 days per year working as a global advocate for environmental protection and social responsibility.

As with every year of Future of Tourism, there is no charge of admission. We encourage people to donate what they feel the event was worth to them at the end of the evening. All proceeds go to Planeterra Foundation.
